I hope in this way the family can continue to think of Mom and remember stories of their own. If you are reading this and are family or friend, please feel free to comment. I'll curate so no bad stuff gets through. Mind your P's and Q's. ;-)
Hi all. This is Mike again. After Mom's passing Michelle and I received all the family history documentation. Along with it came two of Mom's journals. I know there is/was at least one more because one is labeled 'Book 2' and the other 'Book 3'. Over time I'll work through these writings and share here what makes sense to. I don't intend to do some sort of full transcription. I may do that somewhere else. I'm not sure. For now, based on what I read I'll try to pick out particularly good stories or thoughts that she took the time to capture.

Hi, this is Mike. When the matriarch of our family, Paulene Beach, passed away earlier this year my sisters came across an envelope from her addressed to the family. She noted it was to be opened after her death. It is dated December 28, 1998. Think about that. She passed in 2019. That means she thought about her message enough to have written it just over 20 years before the date of her death. When the four of us, her children, were gathered together before her funeral, we opened the letter and read it. Since she obviously meant it for all of her family, I feel comfortable sharing it here. Here is the text of the typed letter: ![]()
April was a great month except for hospital visit. Had to have kidney stones removed and a sling put on my bladder and small intestines. I was in the hospital for 3 days. Hate hospitals! Most of the month was just recouperating from surgery.
May was full of doctors visits and just enjoying the great weather. My life is very quiet and laid back. I guess I'm getting boring. June turned hot and about sapped out my strength. I didn't leave the house very much. I quit keeping a diary, so I have to think back. Also my mind is going, so that is hard to think back. Sorry guys! Wish I could remember more. Love you all anyway. GMA Most of the last three months I was sick and not much was done but watch TV. Still sick and the doctors found a kidney stone and two organs falling down. I go in to the hospital April 2nd for surgery. They have to take a kidney stone out and then tack up my bladder and small intestines. Maybe by summer I will be on my feet again. May God be with you.
